ABSTRACT

Today, anthropology has built up its perspective on the formation of gender and social identities rather than women studies. The scope of feminist anthropology, other than questioning the identified and accepted power of representation of the gender categories, gets clearly defined as it embodies itself within the context of the gender categories oppressing other social labels or being oppressed by them. This point both concerns the evolution of feminist anthropology and coincides with the pattern that the world of social sciences have. This study, by taking the historical evolution of feminist anthropology into account, will discuss the relationship between the concepts of sex and gender as well as their relationship with other categories. It will also attempt to develop a view on the probability of the multiplicity while discussing the concepts of intersectionalism, sameness and difference through the pre-defined gender categories.

Keywords: Feminist anthropology, sameness, difference, intersectionalism.
